Landis was selected by Lance Armstrong to race along side him in three Tour De France competitions ranging from 2002 to 2004. In an amazing come from behind victory, Floyd Landis performed an almost superhuman feat of strength. He was able to cycle to first place from a large ten minute deficit. Later, a urine test of Floyd Landis came back positive for elevated levels of testosterone. After this positive test, the International Cycling Union stripped Landis of his Tour De France championship.

In what became the butt of many jokes, Floyd Landis claimed that consumption of whiskey had caused the elevated levels of testosterone. Doctors claimed that no instances of such an extreme level of testosterone had been recorded through natural causes and that the only way these elevated levels could have been achieved was through synthetic substance use. Landis’ attorneys requested that the case be dropped based on mishandling of the test samples. In 2010 a French judge issues an arrest warrant for hacking the computer files that Landis’ attorneys claimed were mishandled by lab technicians.
